Cairo Travel Guide: Where to Stay and What to Expect

marriott Mena House

If you have been contemplating where to stay in Cairo, Egypt; look no further. We have discovered the perfect hotel for your trip to Egypt; that will have you speechless by its beauty, service, and views. Here is what you have to look forward to during your stay at Marriott Mena House….

Best Time to Visit.

Egypt is a bucket list destination that has travelers year round. However, you want to visit during the months below for maximum comfort and to avoid extreme heat/sun exposure. If you can bare the heat, you will save money by going during low season (summer) and spend a little more to have perfect weather in peak season.

Personally, we visited in June and found Cairo was perfect weather for us to enjoy a swim, walk around the Pyramids in the morning and come back to rest mid day when it was its hottest. During this time, it is popular for everyone to come out late evening til midnight to avoid intense sun. However, going in autumn/fall- you will not have to consider this; just bring layers for the wind at night.

  1. MOST DESIRABLE MONTHS: Spring and Fall: March-May + September to November.
  2. MODERATE MONTHS: Winter months: December to February + Beginning of June
  3. WORST MONTHS TO VISIT: July-August; Ramadan (dates vary each year)

Average Cost Per Night

  • Peak Months: $350-$500
  • Low Season: $250-$350

Room Details + Amenities

  • Beautiful Spacious Rooms with Various Views (Courtyard, Garden, Pool, Pyramids) Our room had courtyard view and was the first tier room. For us, we knew we were not going to be in the room at all- so we did not want to splurge on the Pyramid view. Every room has a balcony and offers a very comfortable/luxury experience.
  • 3 Onsite Restaurants: 139 Pavilion, Alfredo Italian Restaurant, Moghul Indian Restaurant + Pool Bar for refreshments and snacks.
  • 139 Pavilion was our favorite and only restaurant we dined at for two reasons. THIS RESTAURANT IS FACING THE PYRAMIDS! We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner facing one of the wonders of the world, while enjoying delicious meals. This wonderful restaurant is open 24/7, which is offers flexibility to your schedule and enables you to never go hungry. It features a buffet breakfast for around $25 USD, and lunch + dinner ranging in $15-$35 USD meals.

Beautiful Outdoor Heated Pool

Day to Night at the Marriott Mena House Pool.

Marriott Mena House’s gorgeous outdoor pool offers year round swimming; which is ideal for travelers looking for flexibility through the year. Open daily from 8am-8pm, you will have endless moments to take dip in between your Cairo activities. Marriott Mena House offers complimentary pool service including towels and an A La Carte snack and drink menu service.

Mid day was the least popular time to swim; the most ideal moment to grab a photo solo- with little travelers in your picture. Be sure to have a candid moment at sunset as well; the pool area glows beautifully during golden hour.

Overall Rating:

We rated our stay at Marriott Mena House….. 10/10. Candidly, this trip was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. You will enjoy Marriott Mena House from the time you step foot onto the property. Would you travel to Marriott Mena House in Cairo?
